Gold Medal Ales are produced monthly
in recognition of some of the 'greats' of history. The Dublin born playwright, Bernard Shaw, the most significant British dramatist since William Shakespeare, caused uproar by refusing the Nobel Prize for Literature (£7000). He said " I can forgive Alfred Nobel for having invented dynamite, but only a fiend in human form could have invented the Nobel Prize! I shall give the money to charity" Not to be outdone, The Royal Swedish Academy, who award the prize replied that '..until it had been accepted the prize could not be given away." Touché. |
